Memory Foam has made quite an impact on the mattress industry over the past 10 years because it is quite good at reducing pressure, eliminating motion transfer, and resisting body indentations. However, many Memory Foam mattresses are out of the price range most people would like to pay. This is where the Sealy Comfort Series comes into play. The Bay Island is an affordable option for people who want the benefits of Memory Foam, without paying $2000. While it is true, you get what you pay for, this mattress still has a good Memory Foam feel and will perform well for about 10 years.
There really isn't much to the Sealy Bay Island. Support comes from a 6" polyfoam core and comfort is supplied via 2.5" of Memory Foam. 2.5 inches really isn't a large amount of Memory Foam which is why this mattress feels firmer than other models inside the Comfort Series collection.
Overall, the Bay Island is a decent Memory Foam mattress, however, unlike other premium Memory Foam mattresses like the Sealy Embody collection, the Bay Island contains far less Memory Foam, and isn't designed to last 20 years. If you like a firm comfort and Memory Foam, the Bay Island is a cost effective way to start sleeping better.
